Report of Foundation of the H.S.E.

The Hellenic Society of Endocrinology was founded on the 16/12/1964. Founding members were 8 Doctors of Endocrinology:

Upon the 2801/17 February 1965 verdict of the Court of the First Instance of Athens the foundation of the Endocrinology Society was recognized and its articles of association were approved.

Sign of the Society is the Gyroscope.
 
At the end of 1964, Endocrinology was officially approved as a specialty.
 
In 1970 were in Greece 18 doctors with specialization in Endocrinology.
 
In 1974 was organized the 1stPan-Hellenic Congress of Endocrinology.
 
At the end of 1979, doctors with specialization in Endocrinology, members of the society were 130.
 
The third decade 1980-1990 was Endocrinology a period of a big development for the Society. In all state universities and private institutions, departments of endocrinology were founded. At that time private doctors of Endocrinology started existing too.
 
Departments of Endocrinology exist not only in Athens, or in Thessaloniki, or in Patra, or in Crete but in other smaller cities of Greece, also.
 
The new conditions and the need of a better defense of the scientific and professional interests of all the Greeks Endocrinologists led  to the modification of the articles of association of HSE and its change as AGE-Association of Greek Endocrinologists.
 
The creation of scientific departments contributed to the systematic occupation with all the sectors of Endocrinology and gives the benefit in fellow-members of others specialties to participate to the searching and the scientific work of H.S.E.
 
The scientific activity of the H.S.E. continues and lately it has become more intense due to the organization of conventions, daily conventions and others scientific events in Athens and in others cities all over the country.
 
In 2007 the members of the HSE amount to 647.
 
Except for the very capable and worthy fellow-members of universities and hospitals, a large team of endocrinologists render their services as private endocrinologists and doctors of insurance services, extending their field of specialty practice and promoting Endocrinology as a basic specialty with a concrete and large field of knowledge that influence in a determinative way not only the improvement of the public health but also the prevention.
