13th International Workshop on Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia (IWMEN)

Dear Collegues, dear Friends

I am contacting you to update you on some important news regarding the 13th International Workshop on Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia (IWMEN)Liège, Belgium, from 5 to 8 September 2012.

Firstly, I am pleased to say that Abstract Submission is now open for your submissions. Our submission system is all online and can be accessed easily via the IWMEN 2012 website (see below for instructions).

We welcome submissions of abstracts to be considered for oral or poster presentation on a very wide series of topics related to endocrinology, oncology, basic science and therapeutics related to endocrine neoplasias. Please note that to present your data in September you will need to be registered for the meeting, so I encourage you to register as early as possible to take advantage of reduced registration prices. If you have data that you believe to be of particular importance, you can have it considered for the Hot Topic session which will be scheduled in the Program once the abstract submission process has finished.  To have the topic considered, please submit your abstract via the system as an oral presentation and also contact by email the Local Organizing Committee (including the text of the abstract and a brief description of why you believe it is of importance) at registration@iwmen.org.

Secondly, you will be happy to know that attendance of the IWMEN2 2012 meeting can contribute to your Continuing Medical Education (CME) needs in Europe, the United States and elsewhere:

The 13th International Workshop on Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia is accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) to provide the following CME activity for medical specialists. The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), www.uems.net. The ’13th International Workshop on Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia’ is designated for a maximum of (or ‘for up to’) 17 hours of European external

CME credits. Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity. Through an agreement between the European Union of Medical Specialists and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Information on the process to convert EACCME credit to AMA credit can be found at www.ama-assn.org/go/internationalcme. Live educational activities, occurring outside of Canada, recognized by the UEMS-EACCME for ECMEC credits are deemed to be Accredited Group Learning Activities (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Furthermore, for those working in the oncology specialties, the IWMEN 2012 has sought and obtained endorsement of the event for CME purposes by the Accreditation Council of Oncology in Europe (ACOE).  As noted on their website (www.acoe.be), the ACOE is the unique European multidisciplinary accreditation body in oncology. ACOE accreditation offers participants of CME events in oncology a guarantee of a high quality and unbiaised educational programme.  The IWMEN 2012 is now listed as approved for these various CME approvals on the websites of the EAACME (www.eaccme.eu) and the ACOE (www.acoe.be).

Again I look forward to welcoming you in Liège to a premier scientific meeting on this fascinating area of endocrine oncology.

Dear Colleagues , dear Friends,

The 13th International Workshop on Multiple Endocrine  Neoplasia  (IWMEN) to be held in Liège on September 5 to 8, 2012. The program has now been finalised and I am delighted to say that we have an erudite group of speakers, who will deal with many key aspects of the science and therapeutics of hereditary endocrine cancers and syndromes.  Furthermore this IWMEN meeting is multi-disciplinary and there is much to interest not only endocrinologists and oncologists, but also gastroenterologists, geneticists, endocrine surgeons and molecular biologists. The IWMEN web site is up and running and there you can read the program in detail, while also taking the chance to register early at a discounted cost.  Do keep an eye on the website for important updates and announcements, such as the opening of abstract submission.
